Ok, this is going to seem strange, but do any of you worry about what will happen to your deities after you've gone?
I mean, I've only been with my deities a short while, but even then, my relationship has developed so much for them, and I have been tasting transcendental bliss whilst serving them every day. So much so that when I think about what would happen to them it really makes me quite sad actually to leave them behind. This raises the question that if you were to leave your body, if I was to take birth again as a human I would without a doubt want to come back to serve my deities. But then what happens when you return back to Godhead? You just leave them behind...of course there will be someone else to care for them, but it's not the sme as you doing it yourself instaed of someone else.
I know this is a bit of a touchy subject but I was just wondering if any of you had these thuoughts to about their most beloved thakurjis.
Haribol!

Re: Archana worries
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 4:21 AMHare Krsna prabhu,
I have thought about this...
I also wondered if Lord Krsna in Goloka Vrindavana would look like beloved Gopivallabha at the Boston temple. I've conlcuded that He would...as the Lord appears to each devotee according to the individual jiva's disposition/propensity (When Lord Krsna entered the wrestling arena in Dvaraka, the cowherd boys saw Him as their friend and champion, Vasudeva and Devaki as their long-lost son, Balarama as his younger brother, the devotees as the Supreme Lord, the scholars and pandits as the Absolute Truth, the wrestlers as their opponent, and Kamsa as Death personified...)... So I think, if devotees have a spiritual desire to see the Lord in a certain way, the Lord reciprocates. This is just my realization, but it very well could be silly speculation on my part...
If you think you're leaving your deities behind...in a sense you are, but not really... you will continue to worship & serve Them even in the spiritual planets. I desire the same goal...
On a more mundane level, usually devotees continue worship of deities after a devotee has left his/her body. Many devotees I know worship personal deities of other devotees...
Hope this helps/answers your concern...

Re: Archana worries
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 7:36 AMHare Krishna,
I never really thought of this...just assumed that my daughter who is already so attached to our Jagannath Baladev Subhadramayi and Nimai-Nitai would take care of Them..However as SriRkd Prabhu mentioned the service would go on elsewhere. On reading this question I was immediately reminded of Pisima Goswamini 's Gaura-Nitai deities and how they Gopeswara Prabhu ended up taking care of Them. Also,Prabhuji you were not speculating when you said the deities would reveal Themselves according tothe Rasa of the devotee, for in the case of Pisima's deities with whom she interacted in Vatsalya Rasa revealed Themselves in Sakhya Rasa on her departure and when in the care of Gopeswara Prabhu..
I guess the deities will have a plan as to whom They will accept service from in the future.... -

Re: Archana worries
Wed, January 24, 2007 - 7:44 AMIn my quest for collecting nectar about the pastimes of Lord Jagannatha,i found this beautiful narration from the CC on a website..For someof us from South India too its very hard to understand the position of Gaurachandra,i thought i'd share it with all here..
Caitanya-carita-mahakavya, canto 13, 89-109: In Puri, there lived one pure-hearted, compassionate great soul named Sikhi Mahiti. He was a genuine servant of Lord Jagannatha, the ornament of Nilacala. He had a younger brother named Murari Mahiti, and their younger sister was Madhavi-devi who had a pure intelligence. Both his dear younger brother and younger sister were attracted to Sri Gaurasundara. Their natural clear good intelligence never allowed them to forget Him. Krsna who had come on the surface of this earth recently as Vrndavana-candra and now in the form of Gaura-candra, made it a constant rule that this brother and sister felt a lot of auspicious love for Lord Gaura. They were exerting a great endeavor to make their elder brother, a loving servant of Jagannatha, the Lord of Puri, worship Sri Gaurasundara, but Sikhi Mahiti was not at all inclined to serve Lord Gaura.
Once, he fell asleep while thinking a lot about his younger relatives' suggestions. At the end of the night, he got startled--he saw in his dream how his brother and sister woke him up to bring him to see the lotus feet of Lord Gaura. When he saw this wonderful dream, he became both so thrilled and joyful that he was completely deranged by it. After he gradually opened his eyes, full of tears, he saw his younger brother and sister in front of him. Awaken, seeing the two great souls who had arrived, he embraced them in his ecstasy. All were amazed by the situation. Sikhi Mahiti began to narrate to them: "My dear brother, I had such a dream, please listen, it is very wonderful. The glory of Sri Saci-suta is so unlimited, only today have I become convinced of that. I saw how Gaurasundara, after taking darsana of the Lord of Nilacala, was repeatedly entering into Him and coming out of Him, and then again He was looking at Him--in this way He was extending His lila. How amazing! Even now I see the Supreme Lord Gaurasundara in that situation. Are my eyes deceiving me? Alas, when this Gaurasundara, an unlimited ocean of mercy, saw me coming near to Lord Jagannatha, He first called my name and then He embraced me with His long, noble, beautiful arms. "
Sikhi, thus extremely delighted, was shedding tears profusely and his voice was faltering with love. Having said all that, he emerged from his ecstatic state. Murari and Madhavi, his younger brother and sister, heard his descriptions, and they suggested to go for a darsana of Jagannatha, with the aim to see their Lord. All three of them then went together in agreement for the darsana of Nilacala-pati. Murari and Madhavi were shedding tears of bliss, when they saw Lord Caitanya in the Jagamohana kirtana hall, but their elder brother Sikhi Mahiti saw the Lord exactly as previously in his dream, he saw Him everywhere in that very mood, and love bloomed in his heart. Mahavadanya Mahaprabhu also told him, "You are the elder brother of Murari!" and He embraced him by His arms. With intelligence now fixed in the service of Lord Gaura, Sikhi Mahiti also felt great happiness. In this way, forgetting everything while perceiving the aroma of the lotus feet of Sri Gaura, Sikhi Mahiti made Him his worshippable Deity and began to serve Him. -

Thu, January 25, 2007 - 11:36 PMGopinatha (gopinatha.net) was originally the deity of Upendra Prabhu (ACBSP) and when he left his body the deity mysteriously showed up in Jagattarini Mataji's mailbox.
