Hare Krishna...I have JBS deities made of very very light wood...last time during snana yatra the paint on the deities came off (which is why i performed a VERY VERY elaborate abhishek in first place..so i could paint the deities again)..i painted my deities last year...though it has come out well..i m concerned because a few cracks have devolped near the hands...i saw this article about saptabharana ( deityworship.tribe.net/thread...dc77ff1 )....and am wondering if anyone knows how to do this and can give me step by step instructions on how to do this...so i can do this myself at home....if not saptabharana, someway to make my deities stronger and get a more polished look....

Usually saptabharana is not done for small deities, also you need a special glue made from powderd jackfruit to adhere the seven layers of cloth. I have been told neem dust mixed with this glue can be used to repair small cracks but have never tried this. These days deites are not usually carved from a single piece of wood so cracks are common at the arms where pieces of wood have been glued together.
