I have noticed that some temples keep Krishna's flute so that it's only in his right hand so its on a slant like the pic i posted of the ISKCON Vrindavan utsav deities, in all the pics of them i have seen it placed like this, is there any significance for this placement? Here's a pic from a devotee's blog with the same placement bp0.blogger.com/_aqoLKZ7lu...SCF1014.JPG
Also Radha Raman and Bankie Bihari don't have thier flutes in thier hands , instead it is leaned next to him is there a reason for this or is it because these deities don't have openings in thier hands for the flutes.

I always put it down to how the devotee wanted the Krsna to look, ie flute slanted in Tribhanga Lalita, but maybe there's something more. With Radha Ramana, and Banke Bihari, judging from pics I'm pretty sure there's no opening, so the flute goes into the dress or onto the side...correct me if I'm wrong :o)

Actually Radha Ramana has an opening for the flute (I have pics of Him where He is holding the flute "normally.") I think the pujaris may simply enjoy dressing Him with the flute in the bend of His left hand...which looks very dashing indeed...

I personally don't mind any position of the flute as long as it's there with Krishna and not covering His lotus mouth, so that the devotees can enjoy seeing His face. Also, the pujari has to make sure that the decoration on the flute's end is not upside down, and the holes are up. I also like simple bamboo flutes for Krishna that look very natural and create some feeling of sweetness; not so much those with heavy decorations or lots of necklaces put on them.
